At Perceptive Automata, we’ve solved one of the hardest problems for robotic systems. We use our understanding of human behavior to enable the large-scale deployment of automated systems in human-dominated environments.
The applications are countless as machines with modern AI are increasingly deployed in a broad range of fields as diverse as automated driving, factory automation, healthcare, and enterprise settings. We are starting with human behavior prediction and understanding for automated vehicles, and are working with OEMs, suppliers, and tech companies globally that are building or integrating automated driving systems.

After giving his first YouTube tech review at the age of 11, Nick has been passionate about new technologies and the societal impacts they can have. When he is not making visualizations for the data team, Nick can be found promoting his band and crafting new material for his stand-up set.
With a background in managing operations for public affairs, advocacy, and engagement campaigns around the country, Cathryn is experienced in handling materials development, web strategy, and social media efforts. When she is not in the office managing operations and social media strategy, Cathryn enjoys running along the Charles River and visiting the many craft breweries in Somerville.
Director of Simulation & Visualization
Passionate programmer with a particular interest in designing elegant object-oriented systems. Avid tabletop gamer and nutrition enthusiast. Steve spent two years commuting over six hours per day and wished he had had an autonomous vehicle to make that time so much more productive.
Co-Founder & Advisor
David is a global expert in bringing insights from neuroscience into machine learning and computer vision research. Currently, he is the Director of the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab.
Director of Operations
Natasha brings years of high-growth operations experience in the automotive industry to the Perceptive team overseeing HR, Finance, Marketing & Operations. She loves jumping in on a variety of projects to make everything run smoothly and seamlessly. While not in the office, she can be found running, spinning or enjoying time with friends.
Co-Founder & Director of Data Infrastructure
Reformed architect with a passion for data, urban planning, and visualizations; Avery enjoys automating systems and exploring new datasets. He's always on the lookout for good sci-fi recommendations.
A cognitive Neuroscientist with expertise in learning and development.
When she’s not researching human perception and behavior at MIT, Sharon works with her PA colleagues to translate insights from Neuroscience to build tomorrow’s perfect driver: perceptive, intuitive, and not too proud to stop and ask for directions.
Data Collection Driver
Corey’s originally from Cambridge and a beginner in the Data Science Field. He’s fascinated about machine learning and self-driving vehicles. While not at Perceptive, he loves to travel whenever he can and is eager to see self-driving cars hit the road so he can spend more time getting things done.
VP Strategy & Business Development
James drives our customer and partner relationships, and supports Perceptive with business strategy. Is known to sign a deal or two from time to time. James is too easily swayed to pay a premium for well-engineered cars and enjoys too much futbol in his spare time.
Neuroscientist, physicist, drove an ambulance when he was young. Inspired by the abilities of human brains, Till is hoping to improve on current AI to create safer cars.
Senior Full Stack Engineer
Alla loves clean code, efficient processes, and weird ideas. She takes a particular joy in owning systems end to end and learning new technologies. She learned to drive at 27 during a Boston winter, mostly at night, and she'd like to spare future generations a similar fate.
Full Stack Engineer
Coming from a background in civil and transportation engineering, Sam understands the improvements in safety and roadway design that a rise in autonomous vehicles will produce. In his free time, Sam rows and competes with his teammates at Riverside Boat Club on the Charles River.
Data Integration Engineer
Alli loves working with our data pipeline and improving our deep learning models. Born in Korea, Alli wants to see autonomous vehicles bring sanity to the crazy streets of Seoul one day. In her free time, Alli enjoys cycling and EDM.

The tallest member of our team enjoys deep learning and probabilistic modeling. A car enthusiast ever since his mom bought him car mags to get him to read more. Loves European house music.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Both at Perceptive and in his free time Mel pursues his passion for high-end GPUs, state of the art computer vision papers, and real-time algorithms for perception. As a child Mel enjoyed peaceful time in the car staring out the window, and hopes to reclaim that time when cars can drive themselves.
Co-Founder & Advisor
Before starting at Perceptive Automata to help machines understand humans, Sid spent many years attempting to understand human behavior as a co-founder and a product guy for tech-enabled enterprise products.
Data Science Intern
While waiting for his neural nets to train, Hamish plans his next cooking experiment or art museum visit. As an Australian, he can't keep track of which side of the road he should drive on and is counting on autonomous cars to take that weight off his shoulders.
Full Stack Engineer
Between graduate school and Perceptive, Jeremy worked as a Patent Agent — writing formal patent applications and arguing them through the Patent Office — but missed hands on work. In his free time, he enjoys listening to podcasts, reading, and fantasy football.
Co-Founder & Scientific Advisor
Dived into computer vision and machine learning when a mad scientist gave him a digital camera to play with. By day, Walter focuses on breakthroughs in convolutional neural networks and by night organizes global computer vision conferences.
Senior Software Engineer
While Kevin generally enjoys philosophy and art in all its many forms, his real passion is learning. This drives his interest in pushing the limits of computation. His ultimate goal is getting your car to safely drive you to work, so you can binge more cat videos.
Software industry veteran with a particular interest in turning innovative technologies into great products. Hit by a car as a child, Pete is eager to see self-driving cars that can anticipate human behavior better than the lousy driver that hit him could.
