ROBOTICS ENGINEER

Overview

Perceptive Automata is a fast-growing machine learning and computer vision company started by Harvard and MIT scientists that is developing a novel approach to help make autonomous vehicles safer for others on (or near) the road. In the coming year, we’re anticipating rapid growth to support an increasing demand for this technology (we're working with Silicon Valley investors who have supported some of the fastest-growing tech companies in the world).

In the robotics engineer role, you will be tasked with integrating Perceptive Automata's proprietary inputs into a motion planner capable of being tested and analyzed in simulation. In the longer-term, you will build this planner into an autonomous-capable demonstration vehicle to highlight and test our human behavior-understanding technology.

Strongly Preferred Skills & Background

  • Experience designing motion planning algorithms for autonomous robots

  • Understanding of configuration spaces and a variety of planning techniques (esp. probabilistic planning techniques)

  • Experience developing and testing mobile robots in simulation environments and in the field

  • Extensive experience with programming and algorithm design

  • Extensive software development experience (C/C++, Python)

  • Working knowledge of state of the art of autonomous mobile robot planners

Also Helpful

  • Familiarity with ROS and/or other message networking middleware

  • SLAM / Probabilistic Filtering experience

  • Experience with real-time sensor fusion (e.g. IMU, lidar, camera, odometry, radar)

  • MS or PhD degree in CS/CE/EE/ME/Robotics or equivalent with focus on Motion/Path Planning or related field

  • Publications in the field of Motion/Path Planning

  • Experience with automotive-specific simulation environments such as CARLA

  • Experience with machine learning including deep learning and reinforcement techniques

  • Experience organizing and managing large amounts of data (e.g. to serve as simulation inputs)

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation including benefits and equity

  • Company culture committed to sustainable performance with work/life balance

  • Guest lectures, learning opportunities with connections to labs at Harvard and elsewhere, and publication opportunities

  • Lunch reimbursement
