We are hiring a research scientist with expertise in studying human vision.  This position will work closely with the CTO and the data team to construct and evaluate behavioral and neuroscientific experiments supporting Perceptive Automata's State of Mind AI product.  Duties will include developing novel task stimuli and methods, developing and implementing experimental paradigms using both online and in-lab methodologies, producing and presenting evaluations of the efficacy of different experimental designs for the purpose of improving and evaluating Perceptive Automata's State of Mind AI, keeping abreast of current research literature into visual cognition with an eye to research threads that are relevant to PA's internal efforts, publishing original research that supports and enhances PA's public outreach efforts, and attending academic and commercial conferences where work relevant to PA's internal efforts are presented.

Strongly Preferred Skills & Background

  • Graduate-level research experience in vision science, including especially cognitive or neuroscientific research domains

  • Experience designing and running human vision experiments on crowdsourced platforms like Amazon's Mechanical Turk or Prolific Academic

  • Experience analyzing and manipulating large-scale behavioral data sets

  • Publications or first author conference presentations of original vision science research

  • Familiarity with machine learning or deep networks as applied to cognitive modeling

  • Sufficient experience with programming to personally implement a software project on the level of complexity of a simple web application or data analysis package

  • PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience or related field
  • Experience with experimental methods such as ERP, GSR, or eye-tracking
